Hey, I thought we should work with someone were comfortable being with?
CONFESSION:
During our Theories of Personality class we had this brief lecture about Erik Erikson’s works and theories. Few minutes after the class has started our professor told us that we’re gonna do some activity a bit, with a pair. So she ask everyone to find a pair and unfortunately my comfortable-being-with-person a.k.a my friends, is already paired up. (I’ll start to mention names) Supposedly, I wanted to be paired up with Katee or Divine but since their seat mates, they decided to pair up with each other. I sat in front row, with a bunch of BFF’s. So they’ll obviously paired up with one another. (I don’t intent to meddle anyway) So here am I having no partner. Our professor started to list in the board the names of pairs. She started with Sarah and she’s paired with Ana. Then ME. I said I don’t have yet so she skipped me. After minutes of confirmation I found out I’m not the only one who don’t have a partner.
There’s Maikhoben, who got left out because he sat with Katee & Divine. Antonette, Gellie & Ela, the trio just couldn’t make up their minds. And Kuya James, our shiftee 3rd year classmate. So. After minute of deliberation. Kuya James picked me as his partner (I think he has no choice after all). When our professor is starting to connect a line between our names in the board my heart started to beat fast! I just couldn’t believe what just happened. Everyone is kinda screaming and I’m very nervous because it’s my first time to have a moment with him. Whew. So, the teachers ask us to sit with our partners afterwards.
Here’s the pairing:
- Sarah & Ana (1)
- Kenna & Elaine (2)
- Ar & Rusell (3)
- Rechelle & Khae (4)
- Jem & Hanna (5)
- Jane & Marian (6)
- Antonette & Maikho (7)
- Divine & Katee (8)
- Tina & Gederlyn (1)
- Allysa & Mira (2)
- Daniela & Gellie (3)
- Me & Kuya James (4)
- Michiele & Christel (5)
- Leslie & Christine (6)
- Cj & Kirk (7)
- Marjorie & Vallerie (8)
- Andrea & Niña (1)
- D.C & Beljan (2)
- Eunice & Kuya Gerome (3)
The teachers numbered each pairs from 1 to 8. We got 4. Then she started to call each numbers in front and the loudest applaud from the class will determine the pair that will discuss the given topic. When it’s our turn to stood in front we got a louder applaud than Khae & Rechelle. So obviously we’ll be discussing in front. I feel so scared because I never speak in front of the class for a long time. So it’s a big challenge for me. At the brighter side, I got to sit with someone whom I admire before. Things went awkward a bit. We don’t really chat because he’s distracted by an intimidating quiz he’s going to partake after class in his other class. But still, he managed to sort it out a bit and focus on our subject: School Age development. We divide our parts, read separately and discuss afterward. While he is summarizing our final paper, I am telling him my part, and I feel trusted because he is writing down everything I said without a second thought. When his turn came, now it me who’s distracted. I’m stunned by the way he’s discussing his part. The way he rationalize things according to his perspective and still maintaining his manly great looks and his deep voice. Haaay, I kind of wanting that moment not to end, he sat close to me and he maintained an eye to eye contact. I feel comfortable. When the moment came that we have to discuss in front of everyone, it felt nerve-wracking. But when we both stood in front I feel confident, knowing he’s on my side. At the end of the day, I’m glad I’ve done it with someone I thought I’m not comfortable being around… as it turns out it’s quite the opposite :)
